Brown and Black Bear
Hunts
The Chilkat Valley and uplands provide a prime location for hunting
some of Alaska's largest Brown and Black Bear. Ample native habitat attracts
many species that provide the perfect setting for big game hunting in
our area. Several major rivers provide vast spawning grounds for salmon,
which in turn attract large animals . The uplands provide lush vegetation
for the large population of black bears. Additionally the rivers offer
some of the best Fishing in the wolrd.
Our fall Brown Bear Hunts take place in and around the river valleys
where these large bruins come to feed. The bush surrounding these lowlands
are often thick and provide for optimal habitat. During the Spring, Browns
are are in the rut phase looking for mates. The cover is mixed vegetation
and open terrain, providing for good viewing. We take pride in looking
over our game to assure an exceptional trophy.

Our Brown Bear hunts last for a total of 10 days and we offer two seasons.
The spring season is from April 15th thru May 30th. The Fall season begins
on September 15th and lasts until November 15th. Additionally we offer
combination hunts for both Brown Bear and Wolf during the Spring season.
During the Fall Season we offer a combination hunt for Brown Bear, Wolf,
and Mountain Goat. We will handle two hunters at a time, If more hunters
are wishing to come we will arrange accordingly with our assistant guides.
Hunters have the opportunity to stay at John's house or book reservations
with hotels within the area. Additionally there are times in which we
will stay in hunting cabins located in the field.

The lush uplands provide exceptional hunting for Black Bears. We
have two color phases that are common to the area, Black and Cinnamon.
The exceptional habitat allows these bruins to grow to over 7 feet. Our
largest Cinnamon phased Black Bear measured 7'7" and the largest
Black Bear measured 7'6". The Black Bear season runs from May 1st
thru June 15th. This is a 5 to 7 day hunt.
